I saw Jowie with a gun in my house – Maribe

Journalist Jacque Maribe was on Thursday grilled by detectives at the Kilimani DCI offices in an attempt to clear her name in the ongoing probe into the murder of Monica Kimani.

In her statement, Maribe admitted that she once saw Joseph Irungu aka Jowie with a gun in her house but had not seen it again after warning him.

She also reiterated that she had never met the deceased before and only came to know of her existence when she read the news of her brutal killing.

Initial investigations revealed that Jowie was seen driving a Toyota Allion registered in Maribe’s name but the journalist stated that her fiancé often used her car to pick her and drop her at work.

It has also emerged that when police went to pick Irungu from their house in Royal Park Estate, he was in the company of Maribe.

The journalist told police that on September 21, 2018, Irungu arrived at her house and said he had been shot and injured.

She then drove him to different hospitals seeking medical attention.

Maribe further revealed that upon learning her fiancé had been linked to the murder of Kimani, she sought refuge at her parents’ house.

A bullet was also recovered at their Lang’ata home and was taken for ballistic tests.

According to Jowie, on the said night, he spotted three men standing outside their house. He entered the house and came out to inquire why they were hanging around.

It was at this point that he was allegedly shot on the left side of the chest although preliminary findings show no shooting occurred at the scene.
