Kirinyaga Woman Rep raids Royal Media Services for top journalists

Published

BY OLIVIA MUNGWANA

Inooro TV and radio stations which operate under the giant Royal Media Services stable could be forced to reorganise their business following an imminent mass exodus of top journalists.

At least eight reporters and news anchors have tendered their resignations and are keen to join a rival media house associated with the flamboyant Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Purity Wangui Ngirici.

The new Mt Kenya TV which recently hit the airwaves albeit without news segments, will have a sister radio station.  The politician was keen to assemble a strong team of news reporters and producers as the new station finds its footing in the already crowded local media field.

Purity managed to rope in celebrated figures Macharia Gachuru, Monica Kagoni, Njambi wa Njau, Robert Kimani and Jedidah Njue from Inooro TV.

At Inooro Radio, things are not any different as Ephraim Maina, Jeff Munga and Kihara wa Gathua are set to leave. Until their resignations, Macharia and Kagoni were the news anchors besides doubling as political and health features reporters respectively.
