Smelly plan: MCAs plot to defecate in county official’s office

A group of MCAs opposed to a senior Assembly official in one of the counties are planning to defecate in his office.

This comes after the said official reportedly refused to vacate the office despite attempts to kick her out.

How lawyer stole Governor Waiguru’s heart: The beautiful love story of the newly engaged couple

Ululations from the negotiation tent followed by wild cheer, song and dance sealed the deal in which city lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo won Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru’s heart. The date was February 16, two days after Valentines Day, the setting in picturesque Kiamungo in Kirinyaga. Gathered to lent ear, eye and mouth to the traditional engagement event between the two lovebirds were invited guests, friends and family.

No photos were allowed.Dressed in African regalia, Waiguru shyly walked to her soon-to-be husband, with her gaze fixed on the ground.

Kamotho had paid dowry, gone through the Kikuyu custom of paying for the locked gate to be opened, and identified her among women who had covered themselves to gauge his familiarity with his love.

“It was a beautiful ceremony. The time was right for us to take our relationship to the next level,” Kamotho told the Saturday Standard.

The event brought to an end speculation and hushed conversations on the status of their relationship. In their own words, the love starts from a ferry in Likoni channel, Mombasa 10 years ago.

At the time, they were travelling for constitutional conference and in the heat of Coast, they shared a simple meal – bread and Soda – that struck Kamotho’s heart.

“I realised she was a basic girl,” the former commissioner for Commission for Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) says.

They were both consulting for parties that were negotiating the constitution. Kamotho was a team leader and Waiguru had been sent to advise them on public finance chapter.

He decided to pursue her further. After several phone conversations, she submitted to his requests for a date.

He took her to a Thai restaurant in Nairobi, and it is there that they had their first fight.

Irungu Kang’ata’s mother dies in Nairobi

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata’s mother, Margaret Wangechi Irungu, has died from diabetes and hypertension.

The senator confirmed this when the Nation contacted him on Saturday.

The mother of seven had been undergoing treatment at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi where she died in the morning.

Murang’a leaders including Kiharu’s Ndindi Nyoro and nominated MP Maina Kamanda sent condolence messages to Mr Kang’ata, who is also the Senate Deputy Chief Whip.

“We have lost an exemplary mother who was selfless. Her humility was exhibited by the way she lived. Kiharu is mourning,” Mr Nyoro said.

Kigumo MP Ruth Mwaniki termed the death a blow to the county.

“I was with the senator on Friday when I wished his mother quick recovery, not knowing she would leave us today. I [went] through the same journey last year. The senator’s case is extreme because both his parents were at the hospital. May she rest in eternal peace,” she said.

Police arrest ‘anti-drug abuse campaigner’ in Westlands with 5kg of heroin

Detectives on Friday arrested a man, who has been posing as an anti-drugs abuse campaigner, in Westlands in possession of 5kg of heroin  worth Sh15 million.

Mr Joseph Njau Ngendo was arrested while he was on his way back to Nairobi from Kampala, Uganda where he allegedly bought the drugs and hid them inside pawpaw fruits.

Mr Joseph Njau Ngendo seen carrying the consignment.

The police, in a statement, said that Mr Njau left Nairobi on Wednesday night and travelled in a MASH bus to the neighbouring country.

He then bought the drugs from a Nigerian who is based in Kampala.

According to Nairobi News In January the police said that he made two similar trips and trafficked the drugs into the country through the Malaba border.

“He does this to evade detection and it is believed that he hammered a deal with the Nigerian trafficker during the two times that he visited Kampala,” the police said in a statement.

But to his friends, Njau passes himself off as a man opposed to drugs abuse.

“Its (sp) classic for drug dealers to mask their drug dealing activities in legitimate business and charity work. When not dealing drugs Njau Ngendo works part time as an anti-drug abuse campaigner. He regularly visit schools and social gatherings to give talks against drug abuse,” the statement further read.

On his Twitter account @josephngendo82, he has written the message: “Always frontline in campaigning for alcohol and drug free Kenya, transforming the lives of our young youths that’s my goal.”

He will be arraigned before JKIA law courts on Monday 25th February 2019 where he is expected to be charged with possession and trafficking in narcotic drugs.
