Veteran DJ Pinye angers fans after saying he can’t play “Lambo lolo” or “New Position” by Ethic

Published

on

As much as controversial rap group Ethic has gone viral with their hit “Lamba Lolo”, not all music lovers are in support of them. At least not yet.

The 48 year old Veteran DJ Pinye recently revealed that he can’t play any of the kid’s songs because they are not yet up to bar. Ethic, which comprises of Swat, Seska, Reckless and Zila, have been enjoying a lot of airplay on local radios mainly because of their nasty lyrics.

Speaking during an interview on NRG Radio, the popular DJ, who has been in the industry for almost three decades now, longer than the four kids have been on this planet, said that artists have to prove themselves first before he plays their songs.

Khaligraph Jones

He told Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe who host the morning show that artists like Khaligraph Jones now enjoy airplay from him but that wasn’t the case a while ago.

“There are artists whose music I did not play back in the days including @KHALIGRAPH and DNA but their career has grown. I cannot play Lamba Lolo or New Position. Djs shouldn’t play mediocre music,” he said on NRG’s Breakfast Club.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Blake @TheeApolloh: @Djpinye1 is kinda right, the two songs are just breakthroughs but with zero moral content

Holy Grail @James_Nevricks: Imagine not playing Lamba Lolo because you think you are too mature. Tragic

DJ RëS@resresnation: If such music is what my audience want …I will play them.. I’m a Dj, my job is to make my audience happy…

Orb of discord @nyotttu: DJs ni entertainers…..not moral police

Edgar Ja Bay ®     @jamlekjakababa: Everyone is entitled to opinion but imagine sio amust saa zingine uonge. Such a reckless statement with a lot of irony in it. You can play international songs that are literally trash but local musicians who are busting their balls to make music cant get a playback from you. Smh

Learn from us, says Omondi as he reveals ex-lover’s new move

Published

on

There is no love lost between comedian Eric Omondi and his Italian ex-girlfriend Chantal Grazioli.

This is after Omondi in a message to his followers advocating against suicide and murder over love, revealed that Grazioli will be in Kenya for Christmas.

Omondi stated that the youth need to learn from his relationship with the beauty that breakups are never that serious and do not need to end badly.

“Guess whose back for Christmas? This still goes out to all the young people out there, I hope this will be a good lesson that it doesn’t always have to end badly. Don’t kill yourself or physically hurt people because you are separating or can’t be together anymore. It’s never really that serious.

On whether they are getting back together, he noted that they were friends before turning into lovers; a fact, he said, will never change.

“The people you meet in your life are precious, they may leave today and be back in the future or never at all. Chanty and I were the BEST of friends before anything else and that will never change. Chanty amekuja Krisi, hebu let’s welcome her to Kenya,” added Omondi.

The split

According to Chantal, their breakup was amicable. A decision they took after having a sit down early in the year after four-years of dating.

In a post after Omondi made their split public in April, Grazioli stated that she will always cherish the moments she shared with the comedian.

“Hello guys, I hope this finds you well I have been silent for a while…Eric and I have had long discussions for the past one month. As you all know my family lives in Italy and it’s been really challenging for both of us.

“I love Eric and I will always love him and we are okay; we created the best of moments together, we shared our dreams and visions but most importantly we shared our lives. And I will always cherish every single moment.

As I write this post I want to ask God to always protect you and your dreams until our paths meet again. I hate goodbyes so it’s not a goodbye it’s more like a see you later. I will always be here for you anytime, any day Eric Omondi,” she wrote.

Divulging further, Omondi, at the time, revealed that Grazioli had also requested to permanently stay in Italy after years of travelling back and forth to exclusively visit him.

“Whenever she jetted into Kenya, she always came to visit me. With her tourist visa, she cannot work in the country. And, she recently asked me if I can allow her to permanently stay in Italy and get formal employment there.

“And because I had seen her stay in my house doing nothing meaningful, I saw it wise to grant her request. Given we would stay far apart from each other over an unknown period, we reached a mutual agreement to end the relationship.”

Omondi has a son with media personality Jacque Maribe.

o attend court in CF 675/97 and was sentenced to pay an Sh200,000 fine or serve six months in prison in default.

Sonko, according to the document, had failed to raise the fine and was committed to Shimo la Tewa prison in Mombasa to serve his custodial sentence.

On the same day, Sonko was also sentenced to pay Sh500,000 or in default serve six months in prison for failing to appear for previous hearings in case CF 1727/96 and was to serve both sentences concurrently for 12 months.

He was then admitted to Shimo la Tewa under prison number P/No. SHO/477/1998 and was scheduled to be released on March 11, 1999 but ‘mysteriously’ disappeared from the correctional facility on April 16, 1998, a month after his incarceration.

About a fortnight ago, Shimo la Tewa Maximum Security Prison said in court documents that the Nairobi county boss, aka Mbuvi Gideon Kioko, needs to be charged with escaping from prison and serve his remaining sentence.

Here is what Kenyans on Twitter are saying about Shimo La Tewa.

What happens to Mike Sonko now? Will he be taken back to Shimo la Tewa to serve the remainder of his prison time? I understand that he left the premises under unclear circumstances and without the approval of warders or a judge.

Saumu Sonko shares special message after her father’s arrest

Published

on

Saumu Sonko appears to be taking a stand with her father, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who was arrested on Friday afternoon following an order by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji.

Saumu shared a picture on her Instagram of a moment she was taking a selfie her father while embracing adorably and also made it her profile photo.

Governor Sonko was arrested in Voi town by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) who claimed the county boss was on the run when he was intercepted at a roadblock.

Sonko is expected to face charges at the anti-corruption court over the loss of Sh357 million in the county.

The City Hall boss and the other county officials will face charges of conspiracy to commit economic crime, willful failure to comply with the law and conflict of interest.

Haji said a probe by the anti-graft agency EACC had collected sufficient evidence to sustain the corruption charges.
