Former Youth Enterprise Development Fund Chairman, Bruce Odhiambo pronounced dead.

Bruce who is a close buddy to President Uhuru was on Monday admitted in the Intensive Care Unit at Nairobi Hospital after his blood pressure hit extremely low levels.

Mr Odhiambo is reported to have developed complications after coming back from treatment in India, back in November 2018.

He developed lots of complications after he returned [to Kenya] in November… The body reacted to the new medication he was given and he got blisters on his hands and legs which became septic,” a source close to Mr Odhiambo told edaily.

Mr Odhiambo had flown to India in October to replace his pacemaker. This is an electrical device implanted under the skin to help manage irregular heartbeats.

The source says that the problem has been on and off and he was rushed to the ICU on Christmas day and was kept in seclusion so as to treat his wounds.

On Saturday 5 January, he suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be put on life support and on Sunday his blood pressure fell to a low of 54, causing his family to be called for counselling and prayer.

It has, however, risen again marginally to 112 and we hope it will stabilise…He’s really put up a good fight. So, please let’s keep praying for his recovery. Today, he is still in a bad state and the BP is down again (44)…The only thing that’s keeping even the nurses hopeful is the fact that he’s still conscious and they’ve given him everything to the maximum till they can’t go beyond the current limits…We keep praying.” the source added.

The family is hoping for the best as he fights for his life in hospital.

Bruce Odhiambo was the fourth chairperson of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund since its inception in 2006. He resigned from his position so as to facilitate the investigations of the Youth Fund scandal in 2016.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, on Wednesday, shut down dispute rumours with a lunch date in Mombasa.

Uhuru hosted Ruto for a Swahili lunch merely a day after he re-organized his cabinet seemingly trimming down responsibilities for his deputy.

The meeting was reportedly a closed door one in which the two intended to discuss the President’s recent appointments that sparked talks all across the country.

On Tuesday, Uhuru appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as the new chairman for National Development Implementation Technical Committee.

Matiang’i, a brash go-getter, was tasked with supervising all state projects including the all-important Big 4 Agenda.

As the Chairperson, Matiang’i will also answer directly to President Uhuru.

This prompted several leaders to react to the changes including Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, a close ally of Ruto, who sarcastically congratulated Uhuru on his move.

“Congratulations to President Uhuru for the Exec Order 1 of 2019 and to my friends CSs Matiang’i and Henry Rotich for the additional responsibilities.

“We look forward to a more co-ordinated service delivery and greater accountability to the people of Kenya. God bless you William Ruto,” posted Murkomen.

President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted Deputy President William Ruto for a Swahili lunch date in Mombasa.

This is a day after announcing a cabinet re-organization that diluted the influence of Mr Ruto.

The president had on Tuesday issued Executive Order No 1 2019 that named Interior Secretary Fred Matiang’i as chairman of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee.

Dr Matiang’i’s  super role of providing ‘supervisory leadership” in national government programmes and projects has been seen as the president’s effort to remove his deputy from the inspection and management of key government projects.
