President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday told the members of his Cabinet to stop politicking at the expense of service delivery.
During his fiorst cabinet meeting this year at State House, Nairobi, a visibly angry Kenyatta said he has decided to call out those spending time on politicas at the expense of service delivery because that is not what the ordinary Kenyans want to see.
And while addressing residents of Kitengela town on his way to Arusha in the evening, Kenyatta challenged his cabinet secretaries to choose between politics and implementation of government agenda in their dockets.
“Those who’ve chosen to keep politicking instead of serving the people should be ready to give way. I urge Kenyans not to accept to be divided by anyone,” he said.
“We will not be fed by politics. We will be fed by our efforts and hard work that will improve the lives of all Kenyans,” said Kenyatta.
“Today I held a Cabinet meeting and I told our Cabinet Secretaries that anyone who is not ready for service delivery they are free to leave, because I have so many young Kenyans who are willing and ready to work.”
His statement cama at a time when his deputy, William Ruto, has been accused by a section of Kenyans of engaging in politics at the expense of Jubilee’s Big4 agenda.
The President also underscored the need for unity in the country, urging Kenyans not to accept to be divided by anyone.
Kenyatta is set to attend the East African Community Heads of State Summit in Arusha, Tanzania.
Kenyatta had earlier chaired a cabinet meeting at State House Nairobi.
“My agenda in Arusha is to ensure our East African nations are united for the purpose of doing business together. We want to break the barriers that prevent the people of the East African community from prospering,” Said Kenyatta.
