Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto caused prolonged laughter at a Church Sunday when he asked His Eminence Cardinal John Njue – who is the Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Kenya – to intervene and ask The Vatican to allow him (Ruto) partake of the Catholic Holy Communion even though he is a Protestant.

Speaking in jest on during Mass  at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Parish, Ridgeways in Kiambu County, Mr Ruto left those in attendance in stitches when he said that he has attended mass so many times that it is only fair he be allowed to participate at the Lord’s table.

“Hata wewe Cardinal unajua mimi nimehudhuria misa nyingi ambako neno la Mungu linahubiriwa. Hata jana tulikuwa nawe huko Kisumu na juzi kule Karuri ulikozaliwa. Naomba wakati utarudi Vatican, utafute jinsi ambavyo, yule mtu amekuja mara nyingi kanisani anaweza kukubaliwa kula Sacramenti hii…kwa sababu kama ulivyosikia, mimi ni mwanafunzi mzuri,” said Ruto amid laughter.

However, he did not get an immediate response from the Cardinal who only smiled on. Watch:

A 13-year-old boy hanged himself in a neighbour’s house at Shaviringa village, Hamisi Sub County, after his parents disciplined him.

It is alleged the Class Five pupil had stolen some sweets in a kiosk.

The owner then reported the matter to the boy’s parents who disciplined him over the same.

Shiru location Chief Josephine Khalwale said after the parents disciplined him, the boy disappeared from their home on Saturday morning, without saying where he was going.

“The parents thought he was remorseful of the offence committed and had only run away and would be back later in the day. That did not turn out to be the case,” Ms Khalwale said.

She noted when evening came, the parents started searching for the boy and after the endless search at school, the entire village andneighborhood, his body was discovered in a vacated house.

“The body was found hanging in the house at around 10:30pm on Saturday. It seems he hanged himself earlier in the day, only to be discovered late in the night,” she said.

It has not been established whether there is any other reason that led the boy to hang himself. The body has been taken to Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary in Mbale.

My king has not been born yet – Lilian Muli

Published

Citizen TV anchor Lilian Muli has called on women to “do better” by evaluating their worth in order to reject what she said was “monkey business” in relationships.

While throwing her weight behind a post that urged women to resist conforming to the mentality of accepting to be side chicks, Muli stated that there are good people out there who have no time for games.

She posted that her ‘king’ was yet to be born but at the same time noted that she was “forever hopeful.”

The anchor reiterated that “relationships should be exclusive and uncluttered.”

“I find that females nowadays are completely ok with being someone’s side chick. I don’t think I can ever conform to that mentality. I’ve discussed it with women numerous times and they always argue with me. Nobody wants to be a priority anymore? In that case, I’m greedy. I want one man and I want to be his only woman,” read the post.

To which Muli responded, “I believe it’s possible; relationships should be exclusive and uncluttered and there are good men and women out there who don’t have time for monkey business so don’t settle for crap know your worth. My king hasn’t been born yet though but I’m forever hopeful. Ladies what do you think??? I believe we can all do better.”
