Echesa: I don’t know why the president sacked me

Published

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa says he doesn’t know why he was relieved of his duties by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Echesa spoke on Saturday at Marina Village in his Kakamega County home turf where he made his first public appearance 24 hours after being fired by the president.

The Head of State also clarified that this decision was aimed at enhancing service delivery and orienting the government towards delivering the Big Four Agenda.

JUBILEE AGENDA

“I am cool and also want to urge my supporters and Luhyas to remain calm. I remain grateful to the President for offering me an opportunity to serve in his cabinet,” said Echesa.

“It is within President Kenyatta’s mandate to hire and fire but still I would also want to know what happened (why I was sacked),” he further said.

According to Nairobi News Echesa, who is believed to be a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, also received backing from a section of elected leaders.

“We are not happy with the decision. It was tough selling the Jubilee agenda in Western and Echesa was among people who went out of their way to propagate Jubilee and create in-roads for Kenyatta to access the region,” Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali said.

Betty Kyalo quits K24 TV

Published

on

Sassy TV presenter Betty Kyalo has ended his two-year-old relationship with K24 TV with an emotional farewell to her fans in what appears to be her last show at the troubled station.

The popular Kyalo, formerly of KTN, also hinted she will soon join a rival media station.

“I really appreciate you all. It is now time for me to say goodbye here on K24 TV. Thank you so much for your support. I appreciate you, God bless you and I love you,” she said.

Kyalo, who boasts a huge following on social media, anchors news and host two human interest shows on Friday and Saturday on K24 TV.

Kyalo’s exit was somehow expected considering the TV station’s parent company Mediamax Network Limited has been struggling financially and is set to lay off staff for in the coming month for the second time in six months.

Kyalo’s exit also comes at a time a group of employees at the company moved to court following a payment row with the management over a planned 50 percent pay-cut as a way of mitigating the coronavirus pandemic.

Mediamax Network Limited has since announced its intent to retrench staff in the coming month, the second of such an exercise since December 2019.

Crucial lessons Kenyans can learn from Alex Mwakideu’s cheating scandal

Published

on

As you may or may not know, a few days ago, popular YouTuber and blogger Edgar Obare exposed the philandering ways of Milele FM radio presenter Alex Mwakideu.

Obare, who is known to expose public figures, shared Instagram screenshots that showed Mwakideu arranging for a meet up with his alleged side chic – Irene Barungi – so that they can do the nasty.

In the leaked conversations, the two are seen referring to each other as ‘babe’ before the media personality asks for a teaser of what awaits him.

When the scandal broke out, many people, including myself, expected Mwakideu to come out guns blazing and claim that the conversation is fake while pointing a finger at his detractors but none of that happened.

Instead, he opted to keep quiet and acted like he was not the talk of the town. I know this because I kept checking his social media accounts for a statement. Before we knew it, Kenyans had forgotten about the scandal.

There’s a crucial lesson that other people who are in the limelight and Kenyans in general can learn from all this and that is the fact that the more you talk about something is the more it sticks in people’s minds.

Truth is that if Mwakideu had gone the Jalang’o way and issued a statement on his social media accounts, we would still be talking about it to date because, well, he has given us a reason to continue talking about it.

By completely avoiding the story, despite the criticism he got on social media, it died a natural death and that means that it’s up to whoever who saw the screenshots to decide if the presenter was really sleeping with his colleague.

And to be honest, it doesn’t really matter whether they are having an affair or not because they are of legal age and I believe they are not mentally incapacitated.
