Tusker Project Fame Season Five winner Ruth Matete continues to lament on why she enrolled for the show which was sponsored by an alcoholic brand.

Yet again, Matete has shared that she deeply regrets participating in the event because of the sponsors. She however revealed that she was in deep financial stress a reason why she took part in the event.

“Around that time, I was so stressed and I had financial difficulties. It was not a good gesture as a Christian. Even then, I knew I was wrong, but because in life we have ups and downs, no one should lie to you that after salvation everything is fine,” she said in an interview with Radio Jambo.

Her friends pushed her to try her luck in the widely televised event but her parents were also not happy about it.

”At that time, one of my friends advised me to try Tusker Project Fame. I hesitated but finally ended up going because of the frustrations of life, without even thinking about my salvation life. After TPF, there were so many gigs for me. Most people did not know I was saved. When I went back to church, there was a lot of drama, but I admitted I was wrong,” she said.

I’m not a Shylock: Jaguar disowns money lending app

Published

on

Starehe MP Charles Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, has disowned a money lending app that is being marketed as a platform enjoying his sponsorship.

Jaguar has warned the public not to fall victim of the app dubbed ‘Jaguar loan app’.

The app allegedly gives needy Kenyans loans from Sh5, 000.

It bears an old photo of the MP sitting in a chair with a bundle of cash in his hands. The picture was taken from a scene of Jaguar’s  video of his hit song ‘Kioo’.

“Kenyans don’t get duped…..It would be so sad to lose your money to unscrupulous people,” wrote Jaguar on his social media pages.

Unlike other apps that send money directly to a client’s mobile phone, ‘Jaguar loan app’ asks for details of the client’s bank account details where the money will be allegedly deposited.

“Mobile Loans makes it easy for you to access loans from your phone anywhere, any time. Sign up in less than 5 minutes, fill your bank account details, apply for a loan you qualify and receive your money straight to whichever bank account you provide.

“It’s a fast, convenient and reliable way to access instant credit when you need it most. We help you get instant and easy personal or business loans to meet your goals. Everything is done right from the app,” reads the instructions on the app.

“Nmeekelea thao tatu usiseme zimekunywa Maji,” said donjazzy254.

“Nilikua nataka kui download ila nilipo ona niya “4.6mb” app niliishuku,” wrote tomilli_tenymes.

“Anzisha uenye ni real sasa coz i see the person in the picture ni wewe mwesh,” commented kiptookip.

“Thanks for the information,” stated Jessica Muli.

Blonde Dj Mo caught using iPhone while marketing Oppo

Published

on

The concept of an “influencer” is pretty clear; “an individual who can reach many people through various communication channels and can therefore, potentially, influence them to like or dislike, adopt, buy or skip buying, products and services”.

Samuel Muraya, popularly known as Dj Mo, broke the code by going the opposite while influencing for and endorsing the latest Oppo smartphone F11 launched this week.

The gospel Dj sent out several tweets to describe how he likes the latest Oppo gadget while using an iPhone which is a rival product.

Kenyans online, who never miss the opportunity to poke fun at an online gaffe, took notice before Dj Mo could delete the tweets.

NEW FORM OF MARKETING

Using celebrity influencers has become the new form of marketing. It is believed that their fans are likely to use a brand that their “idols” are associated with.

Mr Muraya is not the first person to make such a blunder.

American media mogul and former talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey once sent shares of Windows tumbling down after she used an iPad to promote Windows Surface tablet.

Another influencer Luka Sabbat was sued last year for failing to live up to an agreement to promote Snap Spectacles on his Instagram account.

The company filed the lawsuit in New York Supreme Court, alleging that Sabbat breached his agreement to post three Instagram stories and one post to his Instagram feed in which he would be wearing the spectacles.

While in Nigeria, renowned tech YouTuber, Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) Samsung Nigeria was forced to deactivate their verified account after he posted from an iPhone.

Russian TV personality Ksenia Sobchak, who doubled as Samsung’s brand ambassador was also sued after she was photographed using an iPhone X during a TV interview instead of a Samsung.
