Dennis Okari responds to Betty Kyalo’s claims he is a deadbeat

Published

Media personality Dennis Okari has responded to allegations that he is a deadbeat dad.

Speaking to Word Is on the phone, he said,

I will not discuss family now, but at some point I will speak because so many things have been written about me, but people who say those things don’t know me well.

The public first learnt that Okari and ex-wife Betty are not co-parenting in July last year. The drama started when Okari called out Betty for exposing their daughter Ivanna on social media.

My daughter does not deserve the kind of publicity she has been getting. She deserves to grow up quietly and no one, including myself as her father, should interfere with her rights to privacy, he said.

Betty took a subliminal shot at him, implying he is a deadbeat dad, while replying to a fan who was narrating how he was raising his children as a single parent.

I have a son age 4 and a daughter age 2, their mother ran away and as a father, I took full responsibility to make sure my kids are growing up in a good environment. And every day when I wake up I look at them, kiss them and I get motivated and the urge to hustle more so they won’t feel the absence of their mum, the fan wrote.

To which Betty said, “I love this. Much love for you and your kids. I resonate with you because I’m all my daughter has.”

In the recent interview with Word Is, Okari said, “I have friends who know me very well and they get concerned when they read these things.

The question about me being a deadbeat is what has been said or what has been written, but a lot of it is not true. One day you will come to know about these things.

As a media personality, Okari is one person who receives trolls on a daily basis, but he says he takes the positive criticism and sidelines the negative ones. “You can never live without critics,” he said.

I chose what I take because people may troll you out of jealousy while others may mean well and they want you to improve on what they are criticising you about. I take the positive ones seriously and that has helped me improve so much in life because I am not perfect.

Okari added that one cannot live a life of impressing people because one may end up struggling. “Some people just want to vent and to unleash that on you through trolls, because we are living in a world that is so cruel and hurting,” he said.

BY KEVIN KOECH

Gospel-cum-secular singer Kevin Kioko, alias Bahati has said that he will always choose his wife Diana Marua, over Gospel music.

Speaking while responding to a questions asked by Radio Maisha presenters Billy Miya and Mbaruk Mwalimu, the singer said that Gospel music is not Jesus.

He went on to state that he knows Jesus with his heart, and he will always choose his wife, because she has blessed him with beautiful children and takes good care of him.

“Ukiambiwa uchague between gospel music ama Diana,” asked Miya.

“Ah Bibi yangu tu. Huyo ni mke wangu, naenda na mke wangu. Unajua Gospel music sio Yesu ndugu yangu. Yesu namtambua ako kwa moyo wangu lakini hapa duniani Diana kila siku…Wewe angalia unaona watoto warembo, ndio huyo nimeanza kuongeza weight what else?” said Bahati.

Bahati also disclosed that one habit she doesn’t like about his wife is the fact that she easily gets annoyed.

“Yaani anakasirika haraka sana,” added Bahati.

This comes a few days after Bahati said he had separated himself from the Gospel Industry and is now focused on doing love songs.

“The gospel ni Christ and I have Christ in my heart and believe in God and God is the reason I’m at the top, I cannot leave Christ, that’s the most important, it’s not the gospel industry. The Gospel Industry I rotten…but that’s story for another day.

“I prayed before I wrote Wanani, Missing You,nili-consult God sana. I was fought a lot in the gospel industry and I knew I was not doing the gospel for the people. So when I’m doing a gospel song I will do it for God not for the industry.

“I just separated myself from the gospel industry for a while but I’m in Christ and the lord is my personal saviour,” said Bahati.

On Wednesday, singer Willy Paul shared a video jamming to his new song “Kamati ya Roho Chafu” featuring Sauto Sol’s Bien.

However, the short video prompted one of his followers to throw shade at him over his 24-inch TV that was visible in the background.

“The king has decided to entertain you!! Weka manzi yako mbali.. look at the waist Ina de bedroom!! #kamatiyarohochafuwaistchallenge ft @bienaimesol” reads the caption of Willy’s video.

The user took to the comment section insinuating that the artiste is always flexing on the gram yet he can’t even afford a bigger TV set.

“24 inch wah. Hawa macelebs kumbe ni shobo tu,” wrote Instagram user carole.keysha.

The comment managed to earn a reply from Willy who mentioned that the TV set in question is in the Bedroom.

“@carole.keysha Shobo umesema? Asante kamami. Jameni hapa bedroom hahahaha” reacted Willy Paul.

However, Willy Paul’s fans were quick to respond defending the star, with a section advising that he doesn’t have to explain himself.

Wanja, a singer shared photos from their honeymoon, inviting locals to support the tourism industry.

Sun was eaten, food was basked in. #lamutamu. Never been to Lamu before! Wah. Also welcome newcomers! ☀️Very weird and a little startling to come back online after a week. Was so super touched by some of the messages we received and all the beautiful beautiful well-wishing. Y’all are magical 🔮. To find joy in the middle of such a ridiculous and disappointing and scary year has been just amazing. Feel very loved on all sides in my life and grateful for every drop.

Karibu tho, here be music, music-making, sun, paint, decolonising enterprises, and the occasional #sadboi musings. Also gig coming up soon so. P.S #VisitLamu #LocalTourism they need Kenyans right now, those who are able.

The hotel serves local cuisines and the couple pays between Sh8,000 to Sh28,000 per person sharing per night. Below are some of the hotels where they may be possibly staying.
