Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is believed to be dead after a US military raid in Syria’s Idlib region, US media reported early Sunday.

Baghdadi may have killed himself with a suicide vest as US special operations forces descended, media said citing multiple government sources.

He was the target of the secretly planned operation approved by President Donald Trump, officials said.

Long pursued by the US-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS), Baghdadi has been erroneously reported dead several times in recent years.

Officials told ABC News that biometric work was underway to firm up the identification of those killed in the raid.

The White House announced Trump would make a “major statement” Sunday at 9am (1300 GMT), without providing details.

Baghdadi, a native of Iraq around 48 years old, built the violent jihadist movement into a potent force, in 2014 establishing its own “caliphate” territory across large swathes of Syria and Iraq.

It was blamed for the deaths of thousands of civilians, in summary executions and beheadings, and accused of war crimes.

But Baghdadi has been on the run since a US-led coalition slowly destroyed the group’s organisation and ousted it from its claimed territory in a two-year campaign, finally declaring victory over IS in March of this year.

The United States had posted a USD25 million reward for information on his whereabouts.

In rare video and audio messages this year Baghdadi called on IS fighters to regroup and try to free thousands of their comrades captured by the US-allied Syrian Democratic Forces in north-eastern Syria.

A year after welcoming their first child, US-based Kenyan gospel singer Benachi and his wife have shown off their second baby bump.

Born Benson Ongachi and his wife, Joan Benachi, welcomed their baby girl Olivia Benachi, to the world in July 2019, who has since grown into an adorable baby girl.

One year down the line, the couple is already expecting baby number 2.

Baby number 2

This is after the two shared a beautiful video of a gorgeous Mrs Benachi walking the streets sweetly caressing her growing baby bump in loose, floral pants.

As she comes closer to the camera, she adorably places her hands around the bump that perfectly brings out the protruding belly.

The way she walks along the streets, gracefully and in excitement, it is undeniable that her joy is beyond explanation and she cannot just wait to hold her second bundle of joy in her arms.

She teases fans posing;

“Mommy of two ❣️. Olivia has a sibling coming ….. guess the gender pink or blue 💖💙.”

As her hubby on his end sweetly pens;

BREAKING NEWS! Olivia has a sibling coming up! … guess if it’s a boy or a girl!.

A question that saw many lean towards the gender of a baby boy, reasons best known to the them as the couple holds back the real gender of their unborn baby.

Messages of congratulations, warm wishes, love and adoration were sent their way with fans and fellow gospel artistes including Kambua excited for the couple.

The US-based couple that tied the knot in the USA in 2016, have relatively kept a low profile of their lives. With Benachi recently making headlines, following his grand purchase of a two-storey mansion and a Chevrolet luxury ride, taking many by surprise.

Sharing a photo of his double blessings in an enviable photo in what he called ‘Home sweet Home’ in Atlanta, Georgia.

It is all Congratulations to the beautiful, young couple!
