How my aunt conned me Sh80,000, landed my sister in police cells – Wilbroda

Published

Actress Jacqueline Nyamide, popularly known as Wilbroda, was conned into handing Sh80,000 in a job scam allegedly ran by one of her aunts.

Speaking on Janjaruka Series, the former Papa Shirandula star narrated that deception and betrayal hit home after her late uncle’s wife, conned her of Sh80, 000 in the promise of a lucrative job at Kenya Airways (KQ).

According to Wilbroda, the aunt exuberated a façade of wealth and luxury and charmed her way into her family after making a disappearing act soon after her husband’s death.

“My con story is closer home than you think. Because I was conned by an auntie. It is very interesting because when my uncle died we did not see her for quite some time. Then she reappeared and contacted my mother. She told her ‘I have this job at KQ and I know you have daughters. I have already done everything; all they have to do is pay the amount, take photos and everything will be ok’.

“She would come to my house and put out an image of a person doing well. She’d have a car with a driver downstairs. She claimed that she had admitted two of my sisters and demanded Sh40,000 per head for each to go through and even bought them suits with her own money. For us, it was such a big gesture and we thought it was real. We were so sure. So, I struggled and gave her the Sh80,000,” narrated Wilbroda.

To add salt to injury, the aunt claimed that there was space for three more people who could afford Sh40,000 each.

“My sister called her friend while my mother called a cousin,” the Milele FM presenter went on. A move that later bit Wilbroda’s sister in the back.

“After hio tukaanza kumtafuta. Her number was not going through. I bumped into her supposed driver and asked him where she was and he told me she just hired him for that day. Can you imagine?

“Now let me tell you the worst thing. My sister’s friend who had struggled and paid the Sh40,000 contacted the police. My sister was arrested and spent two nights at Langata Police Station. We tried to explain to my sister’s friend that we also lost money but she was adamant that we were in cahoots with our auntie. It was bad. All we could hear was that our auntie was living in Umoja and Uhuru making ‘funny movements’. We have never found nor has she ever contacted us to date,” added the actress.

Worst nightmare

This is not the first time Wilbroda’s trusted associates have betrayed her trust.

In 2018, the radio presenter recalled how she was horrified on finding out that her nanny was breastfeeding her son whenever he cried.

Wilbroda narrated that she was tipped by an anonymous caller who informed her of her nanny’s secret while she was away on a trip to Mombasa.

Shocked by the news, she took the first flight back to Nairobi, rushed her son to the hospital and fired the nanny.

“When my son was around 8 months old, I had to travel to Mombasa on a work assignment and so I left him under the care of a nanny whom I had trusted so much. While in Mombasa, I received an anonymous call from a person who informed me that my house help breastfed my son whenever he cried.

“I didn’t sleep that night and had to rush to the hospital around midnight to have my son tested. Luckily he was fine. To cut the long story short I fired the nanny the following day. It took immense self-control to restrain myself from harming her.”

Published

Betty Kyallo´s YouTube channel has only been giving us more insight into the media personality´s personal and family life.

This time, she was open to discuss her celebrity crush and how co-parenting with Dennis Okari has been fairing.

The bubbly TV girl spent the day running errands with her youngest sister, Gloria Kyallo and her close friend, Karen.

Betty was taking us on a tour to the carpet center that is handling her beauty parlor´s renovation furniture sets, as she preps to relocate to a much bigger space.

On their way to the place, Betty revealed just how much of a daddy´s girl Ivanna is, always opting to go out with Dennis Okari than with her.

Imagine Ivanna has actually refused to leave the house. She only does it with her dad. Mimi, okay she did once but I don´t know why she refuses to go with me. I even told her today morning, ´mummy, let´s go for a drive´… but imagine she refused.

Betty´s co-parenting with celebrated NTV journalist, is proving to be pretty smooth and not much of a big deal after she revealed that today morning, Ivanna was set for a date with her dad, Okari.

My baby is becoming a sweet little girl 🎈🎈 She chooses what to wear. She likes dresses and track suits just like me❤️ . She chose what to wear today because she had a date with her dad.

Unfortunately, Ivanna is already all grown now and is no longer in the business of warm cuddles or sweet kisses from her mother and this makes Betty sad.

She doesn’t like cuddles anymore. I have to beg for kisses, she gives hugs easily and she doesn’t like oats anymore😆. I’m happy God Gave me a second chance with her.

Celebrity crush

Away from that, Betty was previously spotted snuggling with an alleged Somali guy months after her breakup with Okari.

But for a while now, we are no longer seeing the arms, legs or even curled up hair of this guy taking over Betty´s heart.

During their trip around Nairobi, the three girls were caught on camera drooling over random hunk guys on the streets.

Betty bluntly jerked:

That´s a handsome guy. Wah! have you seen him? Heh! he´s handsome my gosh! Kama kitu ni nzuri, sema. He has a kid, wrapped on his chest as he pulls the stroller and if he has a kid, he´s good. That´s a sure pass.

On a different occasion, Betty gushed over a passerby hinting that the guy would be  good match for her younger sister.

Eh! Cheki ule chali, Gloria, he´s your type.

With Gloria sweetly admitting:

Eeh…he´s short.

Gloria Kyallo

Betty revealed Gloria loves the short chubby type. In other words, the abujubuju type. Nice one!

It then came a time when everyone had their chance to name their celebrity crush, whether locally or global. A shy Betty confessed her liking has always been for renowned ragga and dancehall artist, Redsan since way back.

Quite jittery and shy about her crush, the single mom fumbled a bit before admitting:

Aki please, if you have a wife or girlfriend, please don´t come for me. I´ve always had a crush on Redsan but please don´t make him watch me say this, please. There´s a way he just seats, that muscular, serious and swaggish pose and he´s like ´what´s up B?´ That guy looking hot! Even though my dreams didn´t come true, that guy is my guy. Redsan unakuanga umeweza.

Further brushing off:

Probably he is seeing someone and plus it´s not like crushes end up being your better half anyway. Crushes don´t come to be.

For Gloria, turns out, she´s head over heals for Stivo Simple Boy. Not for anything else, but for his music, with the random lyrics that come with that sharp, wild, girly tone.

For Karen, NTV journalist Mark Masai floored them all, especially because of his voice.

Regards who is currently in her life, Betty stated:

You´ll be seeing him soon.

Uhuru called me after ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ dropped -King Kaka

Published

on

Kenyan singer King Kaka has revealed the pressure he was under following the release of his political song Wajinga Nyinyi earlier this year.

The song was the talk of the town among Kenyans for weeks as it recounted the ills that bedevil our country.

Hiyo time ilikuwa noma sana. I never experienced something like that in my life as it got so intense to a point where I couldn’t even eat in a restaurant due to the many threats I was receiving because of the song” King Kaka said on Friday.

He says he wrote the song out of anger because the nation was reporting one scandal after another.

The singer says he does not regret doing the song because of the feedback he got.

He revealed that he got calls from senior government officials among them President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Nairobi News could not independently authenticate the claim.

He said the purpose of the song was to enlighten people on their rights.

King Kaka also addressed rumours that he might join politics, saying: “Every party has called me and when I’m ready to vie if they support me but not now.”

“I evaluate myself every year on my birthday, I look back on what I haven’t done and what needs to be done, I had a lot of plans for this year from family to business and my music but we shall get back to normalcy again.”

The debate of his two personalities came up -that is Rabbit Kaka Sungura of the hit song Jam na kam and King Kaka of Kaka Empire.

He said the two personalities are a portrayal of how he has grown musically and how he has evolved from his earlier days of music till now as he is inspired by his past and where he is headed to musically.
