Rapper Brian Ouko Robert aka Khaligraph Jones recently opened up on the tough times in life that drove him to depression.

Speaking during an interview on The Trend with Anto NeoSoul, the award winning rapper was asked to explain his journey with depression after he was featured in a previous documentary where he admitted to struggling with depression at some point in his life.

“You spoke that you’ve undergone depression before. There’s an interview I was watching, actually a documentary on you, and I was quite shocked that someone like you would have ever been depressed,” said Anto.

Growing up in Kayole, Khaligraph Jones explained that life was very difficult to the point he had to drop out of school against his will due to unavoidable circumstances.

“Life never used to be like this, things were different way back. You know where I’m from Kayole 1960 and of course coming from such a place the usual stuff is expected. When I’m talking about the usual stuff I mean ni ngumu. Maisha ilikua hard I remember I was having a conversation with your DJ and I told him mi niliachia shule form four not because I wanted to but because of the circumstance at that particular point.

“Just like I said, things never used to be the way they are now. Things used to be hard we had to undergo a lot of trial and tribulations and all that to elevate to this position but now we are happy God is good we are making moves,” he said.

Asked if at any point he felt like giving up, Khali said “Not once not twice, very many times. Things used to happen at some point you would think it doesn’t get worse than this and then something else happens. I lost my dad and that time we had to move from Kayole to Dandora yaani life ilikua ni very difficult.

“And sometimes nilikua naona maybe Mungu sahii atatuonekania but you know that’s not how it used to be. It is what it is, you know at the end of the day it’s just life, hivyo ndivyo life iko and sometimes you have to be happy that you’ve made progress because I believe for me to be person I am today I had to go through all those things, all those experiences, I am happy right now God blessed me,” he responded.

Blessings

Speaking of being blessed, the father of one has won several awards with the most recent being Best Rapper in Africa Award at the Sound City MVP Awards.

Papa Jones emerged the winner beating nominees NyaShinski (Kenya), Reminisce (Nigeria) BlaqBonez (Nigeria), Kwesta (South Africa), Falz (Nigeria) and Medikal (Ghana).

His win was however disputed by Nigerian rapper who claimed Sound City had mistaken his name for Khaligraph’s because he felt he was the best rapper in Africa.

This resulted to an online brawl that saw both rappers release diss tracks. Speaking on the beef, Khaligraph explained that he had to use Blaqbonez as collateral damage to teach other West African rappers a lesson for lessening East African rapper’s game.

“Blaq Bonez is talented we can never take that away from him. And the thing with OG is before I diss you you gotta be on a certain level. I can’t just diss anybody. Blaqbonez provoked me in a good way. I was in a good mood. I was in Nigeria, bagged the award for the best rapper in Africa, some people caught feelings, Blaqbonez decided to react and me as the OG there’s a certain way that I usually react and when I do, that is fire.

“So I did what I had to do but nothing personal, I just wanted to put out a message to my brothers in West Africa that East Africa got something to say. My intention was not even to diss Blackbonez, nlisema yeye ni collateral damage. My message was to West Africa, Nigeria that we have potential and that we are talented,” concluded Khaligraph.

Comedian Churchill says just like any other business, coronavirus has hit him too.

Churchill, real name Daniel Ndambuki has been doing ‘The Journey Series’ on his TV show which is originally a stand-up comedy show that attracts thousands of viewers.

Speaking to Mpasho, Churchill revealed;

“We had invested quite some amount in the production of the show. And now, you can’t use that gear, you have to put all that aside. You cannot set up something so big for like 200 people, that is loss-making. It almost takes us to where we began. We remain positive though”

Adding;

“I am happy with all that is happening from all other comedians.”

Churchill said this after the launch of TuKo App, which he is the brand ambassador.

TV news anchor Anne Kiguta has announced that she would like to share with her fans more about her life.

However, she draws a line on exposing her children to the limelight.

Anne has three children, one from her previous marriage and fraternal twins with Jomo Gecaga.

Responding to a fan who asked her about her babies, Anne posted a photo of her and her twins but blocked out the faces.

In her response she explained,

“Gosh, so many of you have said this… was the number one response. Well, I will have to let you down on that my loves.”

She added,

“I’m rather traditional (believe it or not) so I’m vehemently against it. My babies are are all still too young, including the eldest, to be on social media.”

Anne continued,

“In fact I really regret having posted my eldest at all. Mummy already has a pretty public life. They deserve their privacy.”

But not to break her fans hearts, Anne promised,

“A reference every once in a while but nothing more than that for a long long time.  Hope  you understand.”

In another post she still emphasized,

“That is my son. Quite the charmer. If only I could tell you half of what they say! But all these are are to me sacred moments…really can’t share much more.”

Not to be daunted though, Anne promised to talk about other aspects of her life.
