A woman’s eight-year battle for the custody of her daughter has ended in a disappointing blow after the court finally declined to grant her free access to the child.

After separating with her husband in 2012, Ms Elizabeth Wangari Thuita has been fighting to be with the child who was taken away from her while aged one-and-a-half years.

But in a shocking judgement, Nakuru Resident Magistrate Benjamin Limo Monday granted custody of the child to her father, Mr Ephantus Maina, while giving the mother only nine hours of supervised access per year.

In his ruling, Mr Limo further restrained the mother or her relatives from visiting the child at her school in Nakuru until she attains the majority age of 18 years.

“I have granted the mother supervised access to the minor on the first Saturday of each of the closing school holiday from 2pm to 5pm. The supervision [is] to be under the gender officer on duty at the Nakuru Central Police Station and should be within the gender office and in presence of the father,” ordered Mr Limo.

The court, in its judgement, adopted a report by Nakuru East Sub-County Children’s Officer Salome Waithaka. The report is said to be from an interview between the officer and the minor.

In the report, the minor claims that her mother had abducted her, abused her and subjected her to cruelty.

The court was told that the minor said she preferred to stay with her step-mother and her father because her biological mother and her uncle had threatened to kill her.

Reacting to the judgement, Ms Thuita lamented that it was unfair, saying that it was delivered without her being heard by the court.

She claimed that the court delivered the ruling based on “lies” from her estranged husband which she had no opportunity to challenge in court.

According to the woman, the said report from the children’s office was malicious and false.

“How can I be a cruel mother to my own child whom I have been seeking custody of for more than eight years? She was coached to state those claims because the father wants to punish me by keeping her away from me,” said Ms Thuita.

Mr Limo delivered the judgement barely a fortnight after he dismissed the woman’s application to have him recuse himself, saying she had lost confidence in him.

The woman, in her application, had claimed that the magistrate was biased in the matter after he had committed her to a month in jail for contempt of court without giving her a chance to explain herself.

“I was never given a chance to explain myself because I had no idea that there was a case in Nakuru. I was released after two weeks after I appealed the sentence,” she said.

The magistrate, upon declining to quit the case, further dismissed her request to have the hearing adjourned to allow her time to prepare for it.

Ms Thuita said she will appeal the latest ruling.

A man in Nairobi has married himself in an extravagant and unique ceremony after his fiancée broke up with him. Johnson Mathews and his fiancée, Nelly Burare got engaged in November last year and they were scheduled to get married this month.

However, Nelly decided to call off the relationship after a series of arguments over unverified cheating allegations. While such a situation would typically mean the cancellation of the planned wedding party, Johnson decided he would go ahead with the wedding as planned.

The 33-year-old decided to marry himself instead. He hosted a fancy wedding party on November, 17 at a luxury resort in the outskirts of Nairobi. Only 50, people attended the unusual ceremony but Johnson described it as one of the happiest days of his life.

“Today is one of the happiest days of my life since I am with the people I love the most in this life, celebrating what could have been a tragedy, but I turned it into some sort of comedy comedy,” he said. He thanked all the people whose support helped him overcome a low phase of his life.

One of his close friends adviced him to contact herbalist Wema Kamaliza, a relationship expert to help him reconcile with his fiancee if he was not ready to let it go. “I love Nelly so much and since she said it was over, to be honest, my life changed, it became a nightmare,” he said.

Five days after he contacted the herbalist Nelly contacted him for a possible reconciliation, they sorted out their problems and the two have since fixed another date for their wedding.

In this world, there are different types of people who have varied tastes in nearly everything.

While there are people who would splash a lot of money and emotions on cars and other gadgets, some invest the same in pets, why? I do not know.

Well, pet lovers will tell you they love whatever creatures they are taming because they give them protection and reciprocate the love they send their way.

Popular Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco is among the many people across the globe whose love for pets, specifically dogs is out of this world.

Kaley, being a pet lover adopted a dog a couple of months ago and which she had been living with together with her boo for some time.

The actress and her hubby Karl Cook loved the rescue dog which they named Petunia so much and could do almost anything for it.

However, Petunia made the couple a sad pair after dying, unannounced, in a move that really broke the two.

Hurt by the news the couple took to their respective Instagram account to announced their loss and mourn their rescue dog, Petunia.

Taking to her page, Kaley shared a lovely photo of their late dog followed by a short but touching post.

“We love you dear special Petunia! You are the reason we continue to save dogs just like you. And we will never stop.” Kaley wrote.

Her message was echoed by her bae Cook, 29, who jotted a long emotional post dedicated to Petunia.

”After a life of untold loneliness and hardship she is at rest. For that I am happy. We did what we adopted petunia to do better than anyone else, give her everything. She is resting at peace, with every day’s sunset to warm her. That is what matters most. Petunia it is not the amount of time together, but it’s affects on the soul. You affected everyone who met you. You’re forever my old lady I miss you so much already, sleep my sweet angel❤️❤️❤️,” he wrote.

Following their loss, their fans camped on their respective social media pages to condole with them.

The actress and her hubby adopted the late Petunia from Paws For Life K9 Rescue, which as a California organisation that rescues dogs from shelters.

The organisation then trains some of the dogs to become therapy dogs.

In a bold move and which took great courage, a former Kenyan Diaspora man Kunga Kihokia who was born and raised in Miami Florida has moved back to Kenya, bought a 20 acres piece of land and established an organic farm in Murang’a.

Initially, Kunga had planned to be in Kenya for three weeks 5 years ago but after what he says was the realization of the problems affecting Kenyans because of western lifestyle which he himself was struggling with, he felt strongly to start an organic farm to address those problems.

Kunga has built a water tower to use gravity that allows the water to get pumped and distributed  through  irrigation into the field. Everything in the farm is powered by solar energy and he has dug a borehole that supplies enough water for the farm. Watch the video, be inspired  and enjoy.
