Kithure Kindiki picks new fight with Jubilee

Published

on

BY KEVIN KOECH

Former senate deputy speaker and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has differed with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the contentious revenue sharing formula that has left the House deeply divided.

Kindiki said he could not support a formula that would end up benefitting the rich counties and disadvantaging the poor devolved units which was contrary to what devolution was meant to achieve.

Speaking at Chiakariga in Tharaka constituency on Saturday, August 1, the legislator said if his opposition to the proposed allocation formula would lead to expulsion from the ruling party, so be it.

“I am ready to be expelled if that is the prize I have to pay for opposing the proposed formula that is biased,” Kindiki said.

He further reiterated the formula would not succeed again in the Tuesday, August 4, sitting and if at all it will, he vowed to take the matter to court and later put the issue in the court of public opinion.

“If we lose both on the floor of the Senate and in court, we will use the court of public opinion,” he added.

This came at the back of a stalemate on the Commission for Revenue Allocation’s (CRA) population-based formula on the sharing of KSh 316.5 billion to the 47 counties.

The Senate has failed to pass the formula for six sittings leaving many counties at the verge of a financial crisis.

In the third basis formula, 28 counties are set to be the main beneficiaries while 19 are set to lose revenue.

She also narrated how she couldn’t secure a job in the media because they were hiring slim women only.

‘SOME LADY CALLED ME FAT….yes
Anyway other than it making me question like who asked for your opinion?
I went back to years, while I was starting my career where for one to anchor/become a TV presenter required one to be slim fit!( perception silent clauses) I was left out of the qualifying list often on account of body size…but here I am today-Doubling as a reporter and newscaster. Long story short…If you are concerned about my weight or anyone’s ( seek them out personally only if you have a remedy!)
Besides, if my size doesn’t bother me, why should it bother you?
*GO FIND WHO HURT YOU*
#bodyshamingiswrong
#bodyshamming IS real!’ she posted.
