Kenyan socialite and beautypreneur, Vera Sidika has finally cleared the air on her alleged relationship with Nigerian singer Burna Boy.

In a recent interview with on #BongaNaJalas, Ms Sidika who was asked if she was dating the singer said it was not true, and that Burna Boy has a girlfriend.

“Is it true that you are dating Burba Boy?” Asked Jalang’o.

“I’m not dating Burna Boy. He has a girlfriend. Its not true. How did you even end up asking me that question?” responded Vera who wondered where the question came from.

Jalang’o then explained that the story was out there with reports all over that the two were a couple, remarks she said should only be treated as rumours, because rumours will always be there.

“The story was out there. There’s a time everybody talked about it. A few blogs wrote about it if you just google Vera-Burna Boy it will just come. There were rumours left right and centre,” said Jalang’o.

Ms Sidika added that, “Rumours are always rumours, and will always be rumours.”

Reports of Burna Boy and Vera Sidika dating surfaced after the two were spotted at the same gun range in Los Angeles, California in the United States, and later on spotted at the same Mini race car place.

During this time, there were rumours that Burna Boy had parted ways with his girlfriend Stefflon Don.

Despite Vera and Burna having been spotted on the same locations on the same day, at no point did they appear in the same picture.

Even though the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act (2013) clearly states that; “No person holding a licence to manufacture, store or consume alcoholic drinks under this Act shall allow a person under the age of eighteen years to enter or gain access to the area in which the alcoholic drink is manufactured, stored or consumed,” a recent study shows that young people start consuming alcohol between the age 12 – 16 years. A bigger percentage of them receive their first drink from their friends, relatives and even parents.

But who cares? The bar owners need money, and young people want to have fun.

44.9% of them drink on special occasions, 32.9% on school holidays, 6.6% 2-3 times a week, 5.1% daily, 5.1% once a month, 3.3% every two weeks and 2.9% once a week.

BOY SCHOOLS ACCOUNT FOR THE HIGHEST UNDERAGE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION WHILE THE HABIT TENDS TO BE ALMOST EVENLY SKEWED BETWEEN THOSE THAT RECEIVE >3000 & <500 PER TERM AS POCKET MONEY. MINORS FROM SINGLE PARENT AND GRANDPARENT-LED FAMILIES ARE MORE LIKELY TO ENGAGE IN UNDERAGE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL

“Welcome back to the Big Apple! Today we resume our service between Nairobi and New York, and we can’t wait to welcome you on board,” the airline said.

The national carrier last operated the passenger flights using the Nairobi-New York route in April after disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

KQ resumed international flights in August after suspending all its operations in March following the government’s directives after the firsts case of Covid-19 was confirmed in Kenya.

On Saturday, October 31, KQ announced that it had postponed New York flights’ resumption.

Through a notice, the airline said the decision to postpone the flights was informed by the increased cancellation of flight bookings to New York.

“We regret to announce that due to increased cancellations of flight bookings to New York City, we have pushed back the resumption of our service to this destination to November 29. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused,” read the statement then.

Kenya Airways inaugurated direct flights to the US in October 2018, cutting the journey to the US by 15 hours and by October 2019 KQ had flown at least 105,084 passengers after completing 594 flights to and from New York.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko arrested at Office Park, Nairobi, during a meeting with MCAs; he is facing impeachment by the Nairobi County Assembly.

In what seemed like a cat and mouse chase, police had gone to arrest Sonko in Office park on Riverside drive only to miss him there. The governor had planned to hold a press conference together with Nairobi MCAs allied to him at the location only to change his mind at the last minute.

The police then surprised them 113 Riverside drive later after storming in and arresting the governor while the MCAs scattered.

Last week, Nairobi County Assembly initiated the process to impeach the Governor on grounds of gross violation of the law; committing a crime under the national and international laws, and lacking the capability to run the county.

The MCAs present during his arrest had come to offer their support and reject the signatures appended for the impeachment motion slotted for Thursday, December 3, 2020. The motion was set rolling after 86 of 122 MCAs signed in support of the petition. This will be the second time in less than a year that Sonko has faced impeachment.

It is still unclear where the governor has been taken following his arrest but police have remained at the scene to control any commotion that would arise.
