As the schools in the area prepare to resume this week, 25 teachers who were working in Lamu County’s terror-prone Boni Forest were transported by military helicopter on Monday morning.

Joshua Kaaga, the Lamu County Education Director, said goodbye to the teachers as they prepared to travel to their respective schools at the Mokowe Airstrip.

While other schools around the nation reopened last week, those in the area with a history of insecurity stayed closed.

On Monday, five schools in the Boni Forest area were scheduled to reopen.
