In Kitengela, Kajiado County, anti-drug investigators have detained five persons and seized dozens of pellets that are thought to be cocaine.
The drugs were found, according to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), during a raid at houses in Beckvike on August 30, 2023, at about three in the morning.
While their accomplice is a Kenyan native, four of the accused are thought to be Tanzanian nationals.
Ali Abubakar, Mohammed Kassim, Saad Salim, and Rosse Paul Tito are the suspects. Nancy Munyota was named as the fifth suspect.
Also seized were digital weighing machines and wads of cash in different currencies totalling about Ksh63,000.
The DCI claims that 143 pellets carrying the extremely addictive drug were discovered hidden within empty fruit juice packages.
In an operation conducted early today morning at Beckvike homes in Kitengela, Kajiado County, a total of 143 pellets containing the highly addictive substance were recovered by Anti Narcotics detectives, stashed in empty packets of fruit juice,” DCI said.
“A further search led to the recovery of digital weighing machines, $245USD, Ksh26,100, Tsh11,000, Indian Rupees and mobile phones.”
“Also recovered in the 3 am raid were identification documents belonging to the suspects.”
The five suspects are in custody assisting detectives with investigations.
