Two men undressed in front of the public, climbed a tree, and began preaching in Nakuru County.
It was interesting that they picked a tree right in the middle of the city, in front of the Nakuru Central Police Station.
“The two men arrived at the scene and undressed before they scaled the tree and started preaching. It is not clear why they decided to cause drama right outside a police station,” said resident Tom Ondigo.
The two were detained by police officers while they sought an answer from them.
The pair, according to locals, tried this strange action for the first time on Thursday night, but police officials guarding the station chased them away, causing a commotion.
On Friday, according to eyewitnesses, they arrived at the scene at around 6am, undressed, and ascended the tree without the officers’ knowledge.
A video of their behavior, which has sparked discussion on social media, shows them preaching and quoting Scripture without pausing. A crowd rapidly forms to observe the drama as it develops.
Martin Masika, the Nakuru East Sub County Police Commander, told Nation.Africa that they were surprised to see the two guys at work in the morning.
Mr Masika said their efforts to convince them to dress up and descend from the tree were futile, but that members of the public eventually convinced them to do so at around 12.30pm.
“They have not disclosed why they decided to do that. We are interrogating them to understand what motivated them to commit the act. They caused drama outside the police station and pulled a huge crowd there. It was a funny situation,” he said.
“We didn’t want to go there and scare them. We feared they would fall down and cause a disaster. They will tell us their problem [sic].”
