In Machakos county, the bodies of two girls, ages 13 and 8, were discovered floating in a river.
According to the police, the remains were found on the Wakamotho seasonal river near the Misakwani settlement of Ketethani.
Sisters Evalyne Wanza, 13, and Alvininah Wani, 8, were identified as the girls
They attended Kathayoni Primary School as students. They are thought to have perished while attempting to cross the overflowing river.
Issa Mohamed, the chief of police in Machakos, stated that they are looking into whether the two were slain and thrown at the river.
“We have opened an investigation to cover some grey areas on this incident,” he said.
Mohamed claimed that additional investigations are necessary since it’s possible that the two drowned and that it’s also plausible that they were dumped there after being murdered.
Police chief: For the time being, we won’t rule out any theories.
As they wait autopsy, the bodies were taken to the Machakos Funeral Home.
