ODM gubernatorial aspirant Tim Wanyonyi has a reason to smile as United Progressive Alliance Party aspirant Kenneth Nyamwamu stepped down yesterday in his favour.
This is a great boost to wanyonyi as UPA is an Azimio La Umoja affiliate party whose majority of the members are from the Gusii community meaning a plus to his votes. Other affiliate parties still retain their position to have candidates still contesting for the post.
Wanyonyi used the podium to castigate his opponents and criticizers pronouncements that he will be stepping down in favour of other candidates preferred by ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta and that the race will end on August 9.
“I’m the only ODM gubernatorial aspirant and I have already gotten the nod from Azimio Coalition, therefore I will not dance to my opponents’ tune who are busy propagating rumors that I will be someone’s deputy. The issue of a deputy governor for me will be decided once the Jubilee party point out their preferred candidate whom we will work with,” Wanyonyi stated.
Kenneth Nyamwamu said he chose Wanyonyi because his track record is clean and that their manifestos match.
“Tim’s ideals go hand in hand with mine, we want to weed out cartels at City Hall, create better roads and ensure efficient service delivery,” he said.
According to Wanyonyi’s supporters at the function, he’s humane, passionate and has the interest at heart to serve Nairobians and Kenyans at large.
“We will campaign for Mheshimiwa tirelessly until he wins the county top seat in the coming general elections. We want the development he has done in Westlands constituency to be implemented in the county and we shall embark the City to its initial glory before corrupt fellas overtook power in the past regimes. Nairobi is safe in Tim’s hands,” said Priscah Nyamache from Kawangware ward.
