Interior CS Fred Matiang’i’s brother John Matiang’i has stepped down as the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) national treasurer.
He stated that he wanted more time to focus on his studies at the University of Nairobi.
Matiang’i joined KNUT in 2008 in the position of Branch Executive Secretary.
After six years, he became the National Treasurer of the union.
He previously worked as a teacher under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for 14 years, from 1990-2000.
He is a graduate of the University of Nairobi where he studied Kiswahili and Geography after which he joined the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, for a Masters degree in Education Administration in 2010-2013.
He completed his education with a PhD at the University of Nairobi where he became a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Administration.
