Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda found himself in an awkward situation, as he attempted to defend his frequent trips to the State House while being heckled by some of his people.
When the MP began to explain why he had been visiting the White House against the instructions of his ODM party leadership, angry mourners heckled him and flatly refused to listen to him. This happened on Sunday while he was attending a burial in East Yimbo Ward.
When he said that he is currently collaborating with President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza administration for the purpose of development and that his trips to the White House are beginning to bear fruit, the jeers started.
Ochanda made an effort to explain that some of the problems that brought him to the State House were stalled initiatives, such as the Dho Goye Causeway’s development and the upcoming registration of Yala Swamp as community land, but no one was interested in listening to him.
As he emphasized some of the advantages that his trip to the White House and his affiliation with the Kenya Kwanza government would bring to them, a number of his constituents continued to jeer him.
He however told the hecklers that they should brace themselves for a bigger surprise come 2027 general elections’
Despite the commotion, Ochanda kept speaking, warning them that they would be extremely unhappy if the government at national level in 2027.
The Bondo MP is among the eight ODM rebels who had recently been kicked out by the ODM party leadership after they chose to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
On September 13, Ochanda was among ODM rebels who visited President William Ruto at State House.
Also present were ODM expelled MPs Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Phelix Odiwuor (Lang’ata) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
