In a disturbing incident in Kasarani, a 40-year-old boda boda rider named Samuel Longututi is being detained by police after reportedly stabbing his 35-year-old wife Lucy Wanjiku Maina before making an attempt on his own life.
The incident, which took place on the evening of March 16, 2023, is said to have been the result of a domestic dispute between the pair.
In Kasarani Sub-County, Clay City Police Post received a complaint of the incident from the apartment complex’s maintenance staff.
“It was reported by Ms Naomi Njoroge, a caretaker of one apartment at Maji Mazuri B Fourth Street of the station that one person identified as Samuel Longututi, 40, had a domestic argument with his wife now deceased,” the report stated.
Senior officers attached to Kasarani Sub-County, including the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Sunton, rushed to the scene after receiving the report.
When they arrived, they discovered the suspect laying on the bed with obvious injuries to his neck and still carrying the kitchen knife he had previously used to kill his wife.

The police discovered he was still alive despite claiming to be dead and used tear gas to jolt him awake before rushing him to Mama Lucy Hospital in fair condition.
He is presently being monitored by the police and will face charges for both attempted suicide and murder.
The deceased’s corpse has been transported to City Mortuary in Nairobi County in the interim while it waits for a postmortem.
Police officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have processed and recorded the incident. (DCI).
