Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential flag-bearer Raila Odinga is expected to visit the United States from Friday, April 22.
Prof Makau Mutua, Raila’s campaign spokesperson, told a local daily that the former Premier will return on Friday, April 29. He did say, though, that the complete itinerary will be provided at a later time.
Raila is likely to seek support for his presidential campaign, and hopes the United States will rally behind him ahead of the August elections.
Should he win the election, he will also restate his commitment to maintaining a friendly bilateral relationship between Nairobi and Washington.
According to sources, Raila will kick off his tour in Washington, DC, before proceeding on to San Francisco.
In the nation’s capital, the head of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is set to meet with US leaders.
Raila’s visit comes a month after he visited the United Kingdom, where he gave media interviews and spoke with Kenyans living abroad.
With the country only three months away from the General Election, the former Prime Minister will be looking to solidify his votes.
