Esther Muthoni Passaris, the Nairobi woman representative is celebrating her late father’s birthday in a big way.
On Saturday, October 8, Esther celebrated her father’s 80th birthday. Her father died nine months ago.
“In Mombasa to posthumously celebrate my father’s 80th birthday the Greek Orthodox way with Arch,” she wrote.
In her tribute we learnt at the time that her father was among engineers who built Kenya’s first ship.
“October 21st would mark 9 months since his passing but we chose to hold prayers on his birthday and celebrate with a cake.”
She informed Kenyans of his passing in January of this year.Passaris paid tribute to her father in a touching post on her social media accounts, adding that his passing saddened her deeply.
“My dad achieved a lot in his 79 years. From building the first ship in Kenya – the ‘MV Mwewe’ that sailed across the East African coast, to coaching and mentoring young men,” she tweeted.
Passaris’ father, a naval architect, was of Greek origin. In her condoling note, Mama Taa as she is known told
“Though heartbroken, it is well with my soul,” Passaris said
