13 of the 17 camels that cattle rustlers kidnapped from the property of former National Assembly Speaker Francis ole Kaparo have been found by security personnel.

Some of the animals that were taken on Thursday night in Dol Dol Town, Laikipia North Sub- County, were located in Kipsing village in Isiolo County with the help of the neighborhood.

When the undetermined number of raiders struck and drove the animals away, Mr. Kaprao was not in the homestead.

“Police and volunteers followed the footprints and managed to recover six of them as they were being driven through the Mukogodo forest towards Isiolo County on Friday morning. There was an exchange of fire and the unknown number of cattle rustlers disappeared into the thicket,” Laikipia County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri said.

In Kipsing hamlet, where they had been abandoned by the rustlers after discovering they were being pursued by police, Mr. Kanyiri claimed the other seven were found on Friday evening.

The County Commissioner stated that security personnel were coordinating with their Isiolo counterparts in an endeavor to locate the remaining four missing camels and catch the thieves.

“It appears soon after they were stolen, the raiders divided them into three herds and took different routes as a way of confusing the security officers who were on hot pursuit,” said Mr Kanyiri
