When The KENYA Airlift Program was a newbie, it was a difficult and herculean task to convince one to join as most people had a skeptical approach towards the program. This was the case at co-founder and MCA DMK Kiogora’s backyard as he sought to have as many beneficiaries as possible from his ward.
This being the case, he longed for the day a beneficiary from his home place would successfully set their feet in America courtesy of the program in pursuit of the American dream joining hundreds of other beneficiaries of the program there.
Bosco Kariuki at Illinois State University
Bosco Kariuki from Ngongo, Abogeta west in Imenti South, defied all odds to prove that whatever your mind can conceive you can achieve it. Despite having to wait for a long time to have his visa approved, Bosco kept hope alive and his patience bore fruits when the long-awaited good news came knocking and it dawned on him that indeed he would be relocating to the US for his masters when he finally received his visa.
His amazing story was filmed and documented on a national Kenyan Tv on the legendary “Daring Abroad” show that focuses on stories of Kenyans thriving in the diaspora by Alex Chamwada , through his skillful and unique storytelling approach. The story follows him from the slopes of Mt Kenya to Illinois State University.
The program has been on an upward trajectory achieving about 500% growth in enrollment annually and boasting hundreds of successful students in different states in the US through the program. This spring semester alone will see a large cohort join different US universities with the numbers being more than fifty and expected to rise greatly as visa issuance continues.
