
Muga K’Olale

Long-serving former chair of the university lecturers’ union, Muga K’Olale will be buried on Friday, 21st April, 2023 at his home in Oyugis.
According to an obit placed in the local dailies, his body will leave Ram Hospital Mortuary — Kisii Town on Thursday, 20th April, 2023 for a night vigil at his home in Oyugis town, Homa Bay county. He will be laid to rest on Friday, 21st April, 2023 at his home in Oyugis after a funeral Service at Agoro Sare DEB Primary School.
Mr. K’Olale, who chaired the Universities Academic Staff Union (Uasu) until his resignation in July 2021, died at Matata Nursing Home in Oyugis town, Homa Bay County, on Saturday evening.
According to the hospital’s management, he was admitted on March 21.
“He had been at the hospital for some time,” matron Margaret Orimba said, adding he was seriously ill this last week.
Muga K’Olale or MK was formerly of Egerton University, a great Trade Unionist and a human rights crusader. He was born in 1955 at Nyagoko sub-location, Asembo South location, Siaya County.
He has left his spouses Winnie Muga and Mary Muga and ten children.
