Kevin Hart, American comedian, author and actor, has lost Henry Robert Witherspoon, who was his biological father.
Hart shared the heartbreaking news on his official social media accounts.
“RIP to one of the realest & rawest to ever do it… Love you dad. Gone but never forgotten…. Give mom a hug for me,” Hart wrote as the caption alongside pictures of his family and his father.
He expressed gratitude for his father’s efforts and that it had helped him become a decent father.
“Thank you for everything… I’m a better father because of you. We will all make you proud,” he wrote.
Due of his absence from Hart’s youth, Witherspoon, who passed away at the age of 75, never had a strong relationship with Hart. He constantly dealt with drugs, which led to frequent arrests.
The two, however, reconnected and attempted to repair their relationship, which they partially succeeded in doing after Witherspoon dealt with his drug issue.
Although his lung cancer was successfully treated, Hart’s father later developed Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD.)
Hart said that his father had lung cancer in 2019 but had received treatment.
“My dad had lung cancer, overcame that, and I supposed now he has what they call COPD, it affects breathing,” said Hart in a video he posted.
In 2007, Kevin lost his mum to cancer.
