How Nairobi woman allegedly drugged, robbed man after night of merrymaking

A lady is accused of stealing a mobile phone and cash from a man she had met at a well-known nightclub in Nairobi’s downtown after reportedly adding something to his drink.

Ms. Rahab Wanjiru was accused of robbing Simon Mwai Kimiri at the club on Tom Mboya Street on November 18, 2022, of a cell phone valued Sh29,500 and Sh1,500 in cash. She was charged with this crime when she appeared before the Makadara Law Courts in Nairobi.

The court heard how Mr. Kimiri had gone to the club for a meal and some drinks when he ran into Ms. Wanjiru around three in the am on the said.

Ms. Wanjiru was seated alone at a nearby table when Mr. Kimiri noticed her and requested her to join him at his table.

They left the restaurant after finishing their meal and drinks to hunt for accomodation, and they eventually found a place to stay along River Road.

Ms. Wanjiru reportedly informed Mr. Kimiri that she desired more beer after they had checked into the room. Mr. Kimiri bought one more drink for them before they headed back to their room after going outside.

When Mr. Kimiri returned from the restroom, she saw that Ms. Wanjiru had served the beer in two plastic cups. He went unconscious after they consumed the drink.

The following day at around 3 pm, the room attendant roused him up and discovered that both his phone and the money were stolen. The incident was reported by Mr. Kimiri to the Kamukunji Police Station.

On November 29, he went back to the club where he first encountered Ms. Wanjiru. Police on patrol were informed of his presence, and Ms. Wanjiru was apprehended and detained at Kamukunji Police Station.

Before Senior Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi, the accused refuted the allegations and was granted free on a Sh30,000 cash bond. The matter is scheduled to be discussed on January 30, 2023.
