Charges of acquiring money by false pretenses were brought against a suspected fraudster who allegedly acquired more than Sh2 million from two people while claiming to be in a position to sell them land plots at the Embakasi Ranching Company in Ruai, Nairobi.
Nicholas Munguti Kavita is accused in the Makadara Law Courts of obtaining Sh1, 437, 500 from Yoanine Nyameino on various days between June 16 and November 21 of this year in Ruai, Njiru Sub County, while making the false claim that he could sell a piece of land, a claim he was aware was untrue.
He is also charged with defrauding Linet Nyachieo of Sh766,000 on various dates between June 2 and October 30 of this year by pretending to be able to sell her a piece of land at the Embakasi Ranching Company in Ruai, Nairobi, even though he knew this to be untrue.
The two complainants were introduced to Mr. Kavita, who claimed to be a company employee qualified to sell them the land, after they expressed an interest in purchasing it from the company.
