Kenyans have till June 2 to check if they are eligible to vote in the general election on August 9.

Send an SMS with your ID/passport number to 70000 or go to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) website portal https://verify.iebc.or.ke to validate your information.

The verification process will be open for the next 30 days, according to the commission.

Voters can amend their data during this time, according to IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, if they have not been correctly recorded in the voter register prior to the election.

Kenyans will be required to submit their identification cards or valid passports to any IEBC office at the constituency level in order to correct their voting details.

“In the event your details are incorrectly captured, visit your registration center,” he suggested.

Once the confirmation is completed on June 2, the electoral board will be able to move on and publish the ultimate register for the August 9th elections.
