In response to inquiries about his whereabouts and inquiries by the police and anti-corruption agents, the former Interior Minister Fred Matiang’i’s lawyers announced y that he is in the United Kingdom attending to a pressing, private family issue.
Following reports that Dr. Matiang’i left the country on February 19 — four days before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issued a summons for him to appear for questioning — it was unknown where he was on Tuesday night.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) started a lifestyle audit on the former powerful minister in the administration of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on the same day the DCI requested the ex-travel minister’s history, it was revealed.
Issuing clarifications on Wednesday, the ex-CS’s lawyers said he has not run away from Kenya.
