Kenyan TV host Zubeida Kananu Koome has talked about her struggle with postpartum weight after she delivered her son.
According to the mother of two, she was ‘over-fed with black beans and sour porridge after delivery something that made her weight shoot to 90kgs.
Through social media, she wrote
”Days ago I posted here that I now believe that weight loss is 80% what you eat and 20% exercise, this is why, In the last few months I’ve lost more than 15kgs, and this has been brought about by watching what I eat, I mean the portions not starving myself.
I’ll confess that I haven’t been consistent in doing exercises, I still don’t have the discipline for that but I’m working hard towards it. As we age and after childbirth, we struggle to lose weight especially baby fat but I committed myself to conquer the unimaginable.
When I had my son, my favorite snack was bread and Nutella, and yes, being a Meru woman, njahi and uchuru bwa gukia (that sour porridge was a must, ndo mtoto apate maziwa.
”I hit 90kgs plus like overnight, wee, it was a struggle getting rid of those kilos mtoto alipomaliza kunyonya.
I however came up with a routine. I’ll take you through it in the next couple of days but the key is portions and not eating starch past 6 pm. Going to the gym alone is not enough, watch what you eat and in no time you’ll hit your desired goal.” She advised
