Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, NARC Kenya’s Martha Karua, and Gideon Moi of the Kenya African National Union (KANU) have signed a coalition agreement that would link six political parties under the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).
Others who signed the accord include United Democratic Party (UDP) Leader Cyrus Jirongo, Farmers Party Leader Irungu Nyakera, and Movement for Democracy and Growth Leader Dave Ochieng.
OKA principals have pledged their support to the Alliance, despite reports that dissatisfaction with the Azimio-OKA pact is building due to distrust.
The Narc Kenya party had requested an extension of seven days to examine the coalition agreement.
“The National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved that it needs more time to familiarize and scrutinize the Coalition Agreement and related documentation,” said Michael Orwa, Narc Kenya’s secretary-general.
Narc Kenya claims that revisions to the Political Parties Act have resulted in the abrupt need for a time extension.
“The Party’s Legal Team is instructed to seek clarity on any and existing grey areas, prepare and present a detailed brief to NEC and shall meet within the next 7 days for final approval,” Orwa stated.
