Angela Okutoyi, a tennis prodigy from Kenya, will continue her schooling and career abroad.
On Monday, Okutoyi posted on social media to express her excitement about attending Auburn University in Alabama, USA.
“Super excited to announce that I will be continuing my tennis career and education at Auburn University! Thanks to my family, coaches, friends and everyone who helped me along the way! #wareagle”, she wrote.
At the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, the 18-year-old tennis pro made headlines when she became the first Kenyan to win a Grand Slam match.
She competed with her Dutch partner Rose Marie Nijkamp, and the pair triumphed at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London by scores of 3-6, 6-4, and 11-9.
