Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki Kithure has committed to address issues relating to the processing and issuance of passports in Kenya by residents wishing to move overseas.
The CS unexpectedly dropped by the National Immigration Department’s Nyayo House offices to inspect the situation and speak with Kenyans who were in need of services at the often busy facility.
Following his engagement with the clients, the CS acknowledged the presence of process bottlenecks, which he stated were barriers to the effective provision of essential services.
“He stated that the Government will look into the bottlenecks behind the delays and implement the relevant solutions in line with its commitment to promote efficiency in the delivery of essential services to citizens,” read a statement from the Ministry.
His visit to the immigration office coincided with complaints from several Kenyans over recent delays in the passport application process.
