By Judith Gicobi

Electric car charge terminals will soon be installed in Kenyan homes across the nation, according to plans revealed by Kenya Power.

The company stated that it was looking for electronic businesses to assist them with the implementation of their E-Mobility Network Infrastructure System (ENIS) in a tender notice that was released by the company on Tuesday, August 2.

Additionally , KPLC stated that they would roll out the car chargers within six months from September this year.

Nairobi and Nakuru are two of the counties where the ENIS home chargers will be tested.

“The system will make it easy and simple for customers to be billed and for them to make payments for the charging services. The system will support multiple payment channels which include mobile money, E-Wallet, banks and credit card.”

” Additionally, ENIS will allow the customer to seamlessly manage and monitor their services from within their customer engagement platform while at the same allow Kenya Power to have an end-to-end visibility of the entire ENIS ecosystem,” read the notice in part.

The installation of e-mobility charge ports in commercial buildings and on major roads was also announced.

In response to worries about global warming, Kenya Power indicated that the launch of ENIS was intended to encourage more Kenyans to choose electric vehicles.

Over the past several months, electric cars have become more and more popular in the nation as more transportation businesses choose to employ the carbon-free technology.

However, use of electric cars has been restricted to Nairobi’s capital due to the scarcity of charging stations in other counties.
