President William Ruto and his First Lady Rachel came out to support France and Argentina respectivelyin the just finished World Cup competition that was taking place in Qatar.
The two teams were competing for the $42 million (Sh5.2 billion) first-place award.
While his wife and children were fully behind Argentina, the President was cheering for France, often known as Les Bleus (The Blues).
He wrote: “Supporting the African team in the world Cup finals. Good luck Rachel & kids as you support the other side. Remember to pay the bet!! Either way expecting fine football.”
To which Rachel replied: “Game on Bill. May the best team win. Vamos Argentina!!! 😍
Both the President and the First Lady agreed to honor the wager before the game started, but they withheld the wager’s specifics from the public.
But after Argentina won the World Cup and claimed their third championship, President Ruto entered a state of denial.
The President argues that betting terms end at the official FIFA time, which is 90 minutes. This is the bargaining stage.
“Lakini naulizaje? Bet huishanga na 90min ama xtra time huesabiwa? Even penalty shootouts? Kuuliza tuu?” Ruto asked.
He went on to make a joke that his limit in Hustler Fund will not be enough to settle the debt unless he goes back to his hustle of selling chicken.
“Hustler fund wamenikataza siwezi lipa bet nayo wanasema pesa ni ya husle. Isorait. Kwangu hakukaliki. Lady #1 na watoi ni pressure. Wale kuku zangu wataniokoa nilipe.”
