The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers have detained a man who has been using bogus Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment letters to extort money from members of the public.
According to EACC, Patrick Njue was found to have been extorting members of the public as a result of complaints from locals in Central Kenya that led to the commission’s investigation.
Njue had been requesting payments in the range of Ksh 200,000 to 400,000.
“He was arrested in Sagana and processed at the EACC Central Regional Office in Nyeri,” EACC said in a tweet on Saturday.
The Commission urged any person with related allegations against the suspect to contact or visit the nearest EACC Office.
