Police in Yatta sub-county, Machakos, are holding a suspect over claims that he poisoned a man and his 10-year-old son.
Father and son are said to have eaten githeri served by the suspect at Uvaini village.
They developed stomachache, after which they were rushed to Matuu Level Four Hospital where the minor died while receiving treatment, however, Jonathan Matheka, 46, is in a stable condition.
Area police boss Mary Njoki said the suspect is assisting police with investigations.
“We are holding him. He fled after the crime, but was later arrested following a tip off from members of the public,” she said.
Police boss said the suspect is in police custody and will be charged in court once investigations are complete
