Following a fight, a 27-year-old Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was allegedly shot at Hornbill club in Umoja estate and is currently recovering from his injuries.
The victim, Wilfred Assari of 9 KA in Eldoret, was having drinks at the club with his brother.
According to a police complaint, a club member and a businessman who was playing pool got into a fight when the two were sitting close to a pool table.
The attacker, a businessman going by the nickname “Shawn,” pulled out a gun and fired three times into the air.
During this process, one of the bullets ricocheted and struck the KDF officer, striking him on the left arm.
“An altercation occurred between businessman ‘Shawn’ who was sitting at the pool table with the victim and one of the patrons. The assailant drew a pistol and shot thrice in the air. One of the shots ricocheted and hit the KDF officer in his left arm injuring him,” the police report read in part.
The KDF officer was rushed to MSF Hospital in Eastleigh where he was treated and discharged in fair condition.
Police recovered one spent cartridge from the scene and launched a manhunt for the assailant.
