Police yesterday said initial investigations pointed to a murder-suicide case, adding that Mr. Mauti, whose body was found in the same Ibis Styles Hotel in Westlands, died from a fall.

Local dailies report that Mr. Mauti, allegedly killed the BBC employee as his fiancée waited for him in their room one floor below, at the same hotel.

He had booked into a hotel room on the seventh floor with his girlfriend, Ms Michelle Akinyi.

According to reports, the two were to wed in December, a plan that will never materialise after Mr Mauti allegedly jumped to his death after his encounter with Ms Mitchell last Friday night.
