A man who has been found guilty of defiling his seven-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 50 years in jail.
The man was the sole guardian as the girl’s mother was dead.
Wesley Terer, 35, was sentenced by Kericho Resident Magistrate Aziza Ajwang after he was found guilty of defiling the daughter.
Mr Terer committed the offense on October 21, 2020 at Kaparus village within Ainamoi sub-county in Kericho. Prosecution brought five witnesses who gave corroborating evidence against the accused.
The Magistrate heard that on the material day, Terer, at around midnight, went to the house where the complainant and her younger brother were sleeping and woke her up on request she gets a lamp and take it to his room.
The minor complied and returned back to sleep.
Mr Terer later woke her up again requesting she searches for his mobile phone in his house. He accompanied the daughter back to the house then locked the door.
She started crying when the accused switched off the lamp and started to undress. Minor tried to resist but the accused overpowered her.
She reported the matter to her aunt, who took her to Kericho County Referral Hospital where she was examined and put under medication.
The medic who examined her confirmed to the court that sexual activity had taken place.
Terer has 14 days to appeal.
