2010 was a historic year in Kenya because citizens, residents, and the rest of the world witnessed the promulgation of the country’s new constitution. Under the new laws, counties in Kenya were established to replace provinces.

Each county has a unique code, leaders, and economic activities.

Counties in Kenya have codes for identification. Each has a county government led by a governor and is a unit of the devolved government. The counties’ executive powers are provided in Chapter Eleven of the Constitution of Kenya.
