A city mechanic is in trouble after being accused of groping a waitress earlier this week.
On Friday, Boniface Oyoo Mireri was accused of engaging in an immoral act in violation of section 11 (1) of the Sexual Offenses Act of 2006.
On February 8, he was charged with touching the woman’s breasts and buttocks in Nairobi’s Industrial Area.
Additionally, Mireri was accused of violating section 95 (1) of the Penal Code by using profane language in a way that was likely to disturb the peace.
On her way back from delivering meals to customers at a business on Baricho Road, the complainant, a waitress, ran across the suspect and other mechanics.
Mireri allegedly told the woman to reduce the size of her bust and behind.
The waitress testified in court that after telling Mireri to mind his own business, he grabbed her.
The victim called for help and was eventually rescued by a woman who took her with her to the Industrial Area Police station where she reported what had happened.
Mireri was traced and arrested in the same area.
Before Makadara Principal Magistrate Eric Mutunga, he refuted the allegations and asserted—via a lawyer—that there had been incitements that resulted in the event being reported to the police.
He claimed to be in the midst of reaching an amicable resolution with the complainant.
Mireri was freed after posting a Sh150,000 bond.
The case will be mentioned on March 22 and hearing of the matter will start on June 21.
