A family in Kajiado town is distraught after learning that their Form 2-enrolled 16-year-old daughter failed to arrive at her boarding school on Tuesday, September 5.
Daisy Sopiato’s mother, Elizabeth Ntosho, reported that her daughter left the house on Tuesday morning but failed to show up at the REM High School in Kimuka, Kajiado West sub-county.
“I learnt the same day that my daughter never reported to the school after I called her class teacher,” said Ntosho.
On Saturday morning, Ntosho stated that her daughter had previously reported to school by herself.
After discovering that her daughter never showed up for school, the single parent said she reported the situation to Kajiado Central and the Ngong police stations on Wednesday.
“I have no relatives in Ngong and the reason I released her alone is because of the economic situation at home. I sent her late to school because I had to look for her tuition fees,” said Ntosho.
She said that she released her daughter to go alone because of the high cost of transport.
“I placed her on a matatu on that Tuesday at 9am. The matatu was going to Kiserian directly, and she would connect another vehicle to Ngong and finally take a boda boda to the school,” she said.
While Ntosho claimed she expected her daughter to arrive at school by 2:00 p.m., her teacher claimed otherwise.
She pleaded for anyone who saw her to call the police or report the incident to her at phone number 0724356542.
