A 41-year-old man has been detained by police on suspicion of killing his mother after she died from the wounds he gave her.
The 77-year-old mother passed away last week after she was allegedly burned and abused by her son during an altercation in the Karen neighborhood close to the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
The police say on September 27, she told them that she had argued with her son, aged 41, about why he was burning her valuable clothes.
A fight ensued and her son overpowered her, pinning her down on the burning pile of clothes.
When she screamed, her neighbors came to her aid.
After being transferred to the hospital, she passed away three days later. She had stated that she didn’t want her son to be harassed and had declined to record a statement.
Police detained her son, who will likely face murder charges, after she passed away.
