Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior will cruise to a landslide victory if the Makueni gubernatorial elections were held today.

The senator has been ranked top with 50 percent of the votes in the Makueni gubernatorial race according to a poll released on Tuesday by TIFA research.

Mutula who had been ranked as one of the best performing senators is the most preferred candidate ahead of Patrick Musimba who got 5 percent, Rose Museo three percent, while the rest shared 18 percent. 24 percent of the respondents remain undecided.

The poll covered 900 respondents aged 18 years and above, who were identified as likely voters on the August 9 general election.

Other competitive races are yet to take shape since, in both Senator and Woman Rep races, more than half remain undecided.

In the Senatorial race, Daniel Maanzo emerged as the most preferred aspirant with 21 percent followed by Governor Kivutha Kibwana with 11 percent and 61 percent of respondents don’t know or are undecided on the preferred senator.

In the Woman Rep position, Rose Museo is the most preferred aspirant with 12 percent and a whopping 69 percent is still undecided.

Respondents, however, are clear about where they fall on the national political spectrum as 43% are behind the Wiper party, and 69 percent support Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition.

Raila Odinga is the most preferred presidential aspirant in the county with 48 percent
